About the client
This role offers the chance to combine cloud security, automation and secure solution design within a complex enterprise environment. You will develop security tooling and integrations, improve operational processes and help ensure that cloud-based solutions are secure, resilient and scalable.
The position is particularly suited to an engineer who enjoys solving technical security problems through Python, APIs and workflow automation while working closely with security operations, cloud engineering and governance stakeholders.
Job description
- Design, implement and enhance security tools and services.
- Develop and maintain detection rules, parsers and security-platform integrations.
- Automate existing security processes to improve efficiency and resilience.
- Build secure integrations between security tools using Python and REST APIs.
- Conduct threat modelling and secure-design reviews for cloud-based solutions.
- Assess the feasibility of proposed engineering solutions and provide technical recommendations.
- Configure, test and optimise security systems and services.
- Help deliver security products as reliable, reusable internal services.
- Advise technical teams on secure development and coding practices.
- Produce clear technical and user documentation.
- Communicate security risks and recommendations to technical and governance stakeholders.
- Monitor relevant technology, regulatory developments and industry best practice.
Requirements
- At least three years’ experience in security engineering, SOC engineering, security automation or a closely related role.
- Strong Microsoft Azure security knowledge, including Entra ID, RBAC, managed identities and network-security concepts.
- Practical experience conducting threat modelling or secure-design reviews for cloud solutions.
- Hands-on experience developing SOAR, workflow-automation or comparable data-flow solutions.
- Strong Python skills applied to security automation, API integrations or tooling pipelines.
- Experience building REST API integrations using secure authentication patterns such as OAuth 2.0, OIDC, service principals or managed identities.
- Ability to implement, configure, test and optimise security systems or services.
- Understanding of secure software-development and coding practices.
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
- A proactive, analytical and collaborative approach, with the ability to work independently in a complex environment.
- Fluency in English
Nice to have:
- Experience with SOAR, data-flow or workflow-automation platforms.
- Knowledge of SIEM, XDR or incident-response technologies.
- Experience with cloud-native workflow and integration services.
- Enterprise cloud-governance or landing-zone knowledge.
- PowerShell or another relevant scripting language.
- Experience producing formal security assessments and risk-based recommendations.
- Exposure to AI-platform security or governance.
- Relevant cloud or security certifications.
