This is a contract for 12 months starting latest by September 2026 with strong chance of extension (with possibility to extend for up to five years) based in Basel, Switzerland (50% home office offered).
Job description
The successful candidate will take on a brand new role to work in our client’s experienced and diverse team looking after IT Operations and Infrastructure. Taking responsibility for the technical leadership and supporting the strategic planning with the infrastructure leadership. This person holds in addition strong communication skills and knows how to handle technical as well as non-technical stakeholders of different levels up to senior management.
Architecture & Design
- Design and architect scalable, secure, and resilient infrastructure solutions across cloud, hybrid, and on-premises environments
- Develop technical architecture documentation, including system diagrams, data flows, and integration patterns
- Define and maintain architecture standards, best practices, and governance frameworks
- Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies and tools to enhance operational efficiency
Implementation & Optimisation
- Oversee the implementation of infrastructure solutions to ensure alignment with approved designs
- Monitor system performance and recommend optimization strategies
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across infrastructure platforms
- Ensure solutions support disaster recovery, business continuity, and high availability requirements
Technical Leadership
- Lead Proof of Concept initiatives for new technologies
- Review and approve technical designs from engineering teams
- Serve as escalation point for complex technical challenges
Strategic Planning
- Collaborate with Infrastructure and Operations leadership to develop long-term technology roadmaps
- Translate business requirements into technical solutions and implementation strategies
- Conduct feasibility studies and cost benefit analyses for proposed solutions
- Align infrastructure architecture with enterprise security and compliance requirements
Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with Application Development, Security, and Business Unit teams to understand requirements
- Present architecture proposals and recommendations to senior leadership
- Act as liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders
- Facilitate architecture review boards and technical design sessions
Requirements
You will possess as many of the following skills as possible:
- 7+ years of experience in infrastructure, operations, or systems engineering roles, with at least 3+ years in solutions architecture or technical architecture positions.
- Proven track record of designing and implementing enterprise-scale infrastructure solutions.
- Deep expertise in cloud platforms and cloud-native architectures.
- Strong knowledge of virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware) and containerization/orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes).
- Solid understanding of networking concepts and storage technologies.
- Proficiency in infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and monitoring/observability tools.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with ability to convey complex technical concepts to nontechnical audiences
- Fluency in English
Nice to have:
- Knowledge of Zero Trust Architecture principles and implementation.
- Excited about Artificial Intelligence (AI) and enthusiastic about exploring ways to integrate AI capabilities into infrastructure solutions and artifacts.
- Passion for mentoring and knowledge sharing within the team and across the organization.
- Active participation in technology communities or contributions to open-source projects.
Compensation benefits
Please note interviews would be conducted via video call, however the role is based 100% in Switzerland. Our client offers:
- 12 month contract with likelihood of extension up to five years
