System Architect (Avaloq - Private Bank Transformation)

For our client in the private banking sector, we are looking for an experienced System Architect to support the definition and evolution of the target architecture within a complex banking environment. In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end architectural vision across applications and systems, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards, regulatory requirements, and long-term sustainability. The position involves close collaboration with business stakeholders, product management, system teams, and suppliers across Luxembourg and Frankfurt.

• Duration: Until 30.04.2027 (with potential extension)
• Workload: 100%
• Location: Luxembourg (60–70%) and Frankfurt (30–40%)

• Define and drive the target architecture for banking applications and functional areas
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Product Owners, and stakeholders to shape business and solution architecture vision
• Design high-level solution blueprints, architectural roadmaps, and information models
• Identify enabler initiatives, dependencies, and architectural risks
• Define subsystems, interfaces, and solution deployment concepts
• Develop and maintain the architectural runway supporting future business capabilities and technical evolution
• Ensure compliance with enterprise architecture standards and governance frameworks
• Manage application lifecycle and reduce architectural debt across systems and platforms
• Support PI planning, QBR processes, and technical roadmap activities
• Assist teams in defining features and breaking them down into technical stories
• Work closely with enterprise architects, system architects, suppliers, and shared services teams
• Align technical direction with stakeholders, customers, and third-party vendors
• Support integration of supplier-delivered solutions into the overall architecture landscape

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• Proven experience as a System Architect within IT and/or the financial services sector
• Strong knowledge of wealth management and private banking products/services
• Minimum 5 years of experience within a European private bank
• Good understanding of banking regulatory frameworks and governance standards
• Strong hands-on experience with Avaloq banking software is mandatory
• Experience with Temenos Transact and/or Triple’A is considered a strong advantage
• Strong knowledge of architecture methodologies and enterprise architecture principles
• Experience with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, JIRA, and architecture tools such as Enterprise Architect
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Analytical mindset with strong risk awareness
• Excellent English and German language skills, French & any additional language
