As one of the premier supplier to our international banking client in Basel, Swisslinx are looking for an experienced Virtualisation Engineer with strong VMware and data centre experience to take on a mix of project and operational tasks.
This is a rolling contract running starting in December with option to extend up to five years.
In this far reaching role you work with a group of infrastructure enthusiasts from all over the globe working on a number of high profile initiatives for our client.
Within a team of five engineers, who are responsible for ensure the support and maintenance of business-critical infrastructure, you would provide support in maintaining and improving the virtualized operating environment and supporting the operations team in lifecycle management, resolving technical issues and coordinating changes with various outsourcing partners.
Our client offers a highly virtualised configuration that they want to maintain based on VMware and move to next generation of hardware. The role is predominantly operational but with a heavy involvement in lifecycle project as the refresh and renew infrastructure using the latest technologies.
As the suitable candidate, you would have in-depth knowledge and experience with data centre infrastructure and virtualization technologies:
• Proven track record as a Systems Engineer, including a broad understanding of datacentre technologies
• Solid understanding of Storage, Network and Compute in an enterprise virtualization context
• At least 3 years’ experience building, maintaining and operating resilient virtualization platforms based on VMware technology
• Experience with (hyper-)converged infrastructure and software defined network and storage technologies
• Experience with automation tools such as Ansible is highly desirable
• Experience with Veeam or another backup solution used within a virtualized environment is required
• Experience with system deployment automation is an advantage
• Experience with NetApp storage systems for CIFS and NFS is an advantage
• Knowledge of Cloud based technologies including experience with Azure and/or AWS is an advantage
• Strong communication skills in English, written and verbal are required
• Experience with 2nd and 3rd level troubleshooting of technical issues in cooperation with other specialist teams
Please note due to COVID interviews would be conducted remotely, however the role is based 100% in Switzerland (our client offers predominately WFH as well as onsite).
