Job description
This is a contract starting in March 2026 running for 12 months (with chance for extension).
The Monitoring Operator will work as part of an established 24×7 operations team, following strict operational, security, and documentation standards. The role focuses on real-time monitoring, incident handling, escalation, and coordination with internal support teams.
This is a 24×7 team, on-site role requiring high reliability and strong procedural discipline. Coverage includes days, evenings, nights, weekends, and public holidays.
- The Monitoring Operator will be responsible for the following:
- Continuous monitoring of IT infrastructure, applications, and services
- Validation and filtering of alerts (false positives, duplicates)
- Classification, prioritisation, and correlation of incidents
- Handling incidents using documented solutions and runbooks
- Monitoring processing and failure logs
- Execution of operating procedures and escalation guidelines
- Escalation to on-call staff and specialist teams
- Coordination and moderation of incident / bridge calls
- Accurate and audit-ready documentation of all actions and outcomes
Requirements
You will possess as many of the following skills as possible:
- 1–3 years’ experience in a 24×7 monitoring, NOC, or IT operations environment
- Proven ability to work strictly according to documented procedures
- Hands-on experience with an ITSM tool (e.g. BMC Helix ITSM or equivalent)
- High reliability and strong adherence to shift schedules
- Good written and spoken German and English
- Clean criminal record and no debt enforcement records
- On-site availability in Zurich (remote work not possible)
- Candidates must be willing and contractually able to work night and weekend shifts
Advantageous Skills
- Experience with monitoring tools (e.g. BMC Patrol / TrueSight or similar)
- Mainframe monitoring or operations exposure
- Incident coordination or bridge call leadership experience
- Basic ITIL knowledge (Event, Incident, Problem Management)
- Strong documentation, handover, and communication skills
