For our client, one of the most instantly recognisable brands in the banking sector worldwide, Swisslinx are looking for a Sybase/MS SQL Developer for a new rolling 12 month contract in Zurich with a strong chance for extension starting as soon as possible.
As a Sybase/MS SQL Developer you will work in a small business facing team of developers split between Zurich and Poland. The team is focused on the development of applications and software solutions to support the Securities Lending & Borrowing and Repo trading within Switzerland.
Your responsibilities will include the following:
- Develop and maintain Sybase database queries and stored procedures
- Develop and maintain data feeds to downstream systems and processing of feeds from upstream systems
- Develop and maintain batch jobs written in Linux and Perl scripts
- Assist the 3rd Level support team on high priority support incidents
- Maintenance and documentation of database schema
- Documentation of batch jobs and processes
- Development and maintenance of reports and Crystal reporting templates
- Help capture business requirements in the form of User Stories
- Support the test team in testing activities
- Collaborate with off-shore IT development team based in Poland and India
- Work directly with Business users at all levels on small projects such as report development and enhancements
In order to be considered for this role, you will possess the following skills and experience:
- Expert knowledge of Sybase ASE or MS SQL Server as a developer
- Ability to performance tune SQL queries and stored procedures
- Good working knowledge of Linux shell and Perl scripting languages
- Previous experience of developing IT projects within a banking firm advantageous
- Knowledge of Crystal reports beneficial
- Fluency in English (German advantageous)
